Why Choose Click Lock Vinyl Flooring?

Click lock is the most popular LVP installation system for good reason — it requires no adhesive, no nails, no special tools, and no professional experience to install correctly. The interlocking tongue-and-groove joint holds every plank securely in place while still allowing the floor to float naturally with temperature changes. For homeowners tackling a renovation themselves, or for installers who need to work quickly across multiple rooms, click lock vinyl is the fastest and most forgiving flooring system available.

What makes click lock LVP the right choice:

  • Fully floating installation — planks connect to each other, not to the subfloor, allowing for natural expansion and contraction with seasonal temperature changes
  • Installs over most existing floors — can go directly over tile, hardwood, and concrete as long as the surface is flat within 3/16" per 10 feet and structurally sound
  • No adhesive or cure time — the floor is ready to walk on immediately after installation
  • Easy to repair — individual planks can be replaced without removing the entire floor; click the rows apart back to the damaged plank, swap it out, and click everything back together
  • Attached underlayment — most of our click lock LVP includes pre-attached underlayment for added comfort, sound reduction, and moisture protection

Where click lock vinyl works best:

  • Residential living areas — bedrooms, living rooms, hallways, and open-plan spaces where a floating floor is ideal
  • Kitchens and bathrooms — 100% waterproof click lock LVP handles moisture with ease; seal the perimeter with silicone caulk where the floor meets walls in high-splash areas
  • Renovation projects — the ability to install over existing flooring means no costly demolition or subfloor preparation in most cases
  • Rental properties — click lock floors can be removed and reinstalled if needed, making them a practical investment for landlords

For larger open commercial spaces or areas with heavy rolling loads, consider our glue down vinyl for maximum stability, or loose lay vinyl for tool-free flexibility.

FAQ

What is click lock vinyl flooring?

Click lock vinyl flooring - also called floating vinyl or click LVP - is a type of luxury vinyl plank where individual planks connect to each other using an interlocking tongue-and-groove or click joint system. The floor floats above the subfloor rather than being glued or nailed down, with the planks holding each other in place through the click connection. This makes it the most DIY-friendly vinyl flooring installation method, requiring no adhesive and no specialized tools beyond a tapping block and pull bar.

Can click lock vinyl be installed over existing flooring?

Yes - click lock LVP can be installed over most existing hard floor surfaces including tile, hardwood, and laminate, as long as the surface is flat (within 3/16" per 10 feet), clean, dry, and structurally sound. It cannot be installed over carpet or soft floor coverings. Check door clearances before installation - adding a floating floor raises the floor height by the thickness of the plank, typically 5-8mm, which can affect door swing.

Does click lock vinyl need underlayment?

Many click lock LVP products come with an attached underlayment pre-installed on the back of the plank. If your product does not include attached underlayment, a thin foam or cork underlayment is recommended to improve comfort underfoot, reduce sound transmission, and compensate for very minor subfloor imperfections. Do not use a thick underlayment (over 3mm) as this can cause the click joints to flex excessively and fail over time.

Can click lock vinyl be installed in bathrooms?

Yes - 100% waterproof click lock LVP is suitable for bathrooms and other wet areas. The click joint itself is water-resistant, but for full bathroom waterproofing, seal the perimeter of the floor where it meets the wall with a bead of silicone caulk. This prevents water from getting under the floor at the edges. Never install click lock vinyl in areas with standing water or where water may sit for extended periods, such as directly in a shower.

How do I fix a damaged click lock vinyl plank?

One of the advantages of click lock vinyl is that individual planks can be replaced without removing the entire floor. For planks in the middle of a room, the floor must be partially disassembled back to the damaged plank by clicking rows apart - start from the wall nearest to the damaged plank. For edge planks, removal is simpler. Always keep a few extra planks from the original installation for future repairs, as dye lots can vary between production runs.
